At an outdated Minnesota mega-mall that should’ve closed years ago, a no-nonsense, disgruntled security director tries to maintain order among a spectacularly dysfunctional crew of security officers, eccentric tenants and bizarre customers - all while somehow keeping the place from falling apart.

 

THE MALL is a character-driven workplace comedy inspired by the strange, hilarious, and often unbelievable world that exists behind the scenes of a fading American shopping mall. At its center is Lt. Leroy Dealer, a Marine Corps veteran surrounded by an unpredictable collection of employees, tenants, customers, and personalities who make that nearly impossible.

My goal is to create a series that feels authentic, familiar, slightly nostalgic, and genuinely, darkly funny - finding comedy in ordinary people and situations rather than forcing the joke. The mall itself is as important as any character: an outdated institution stubbornly trying to remain relevant while an equally imperfect group of people tries to keep it running.

With THE MALL, I want to build an ensemble comedy with a distinctive world, memorable characters, and room to grow for exactly three (3) seasons. Beneath the absurdity is something surprisingly human: people from completely different walks of life becoming a dysfunctional family simply because they all happen to work under the same roof.
